Tulips From Hoddles Creek
Rob came to Australia with his parents when he was only 8 years old, all the way from De Zilk in Holland. The family moved to Hoddles Creek to grow the De Boer farm, specialising in tulips, daffodils and hyacinths.
Local Victorian Tulips
Over 25 varieties of tulips are grown at farm, and the state of the art glasshouse is self irrigating, collecting water run off from the roof that is filtered into the growing bays. De Boer are fans of the Dutch style ‘flat stem treatment’ technique, which involves exposing the blooms to different temperatures to create a more oval stem, which yields a bigger head.
