One of the key attractions in Hillsdale is Southpoint Shopping Centre, which features a range of retail options including Aldi and Woolworths supermarkets, a Chemist Warehouse and several specialty stores. Far less chaotic than the nearby Westfield Eastgardens shopping centre, Southpoint is a great place for locals to hang out and enjoy a cup of coffee and a nice lunch with friends and family on weekends, before they go and do the weekly shop.Â
Opposite Southpoint is the expansive Heffron Park, which features various sporting fields, a cycling track and tennis courts. It’s also set to become the new home of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, the favoured NRL team of the local populace. While it’s not necessarily a busy or exciting suburb, Hillsdale is certainly appealing thanks to its proximity to other nearby destinations, such as Maroubra and Coogee Beach, as well as the University of New South Wales, which are all about a 10-minute drive from Hillsdale. Hillsdale is also within easy reach of Sydney Airport and the Sydney CBD, which are approximately 15 and 20 minutes away by car respectively.
